Erin Will selected to participate in PMCA Student Outreach Program

2017 May 4

Erin Will, a Delaware Valley University student from Telford, PA, was one of eight food science students from the Univesity who were selected to participate in the Student Outreach Program of the Pennsylvania Manufacturing Confectioners Association (PMCA) conference. The students traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in April to participate in the conference.

The 71st Annual PMCA conference brought together hundreds of attendees from around the world. There were 38 students from six universities who were invited to be a part of the Student Outreach Program. The students were paired with 14 working professional mentors. Students attended technical presentations, networked at the supplier exhibit, toured the Herr's manufacturing facility, and participated in the starch and starchless moulding workshop. Technical presentations included topics such as: the science of candy panning, the importance of biodiversity in cocoa plants, chocolate processing and optimal equipment for chocolate particle size.
