Chair of the Department of Animal Science at Delaware Valley University Presents Discussion on Small Ruminant Quality Assurance at PA Livestock Evaluation Center Event

Doylestown, PA (08/17/2022) — Chair of the Department of Animal Science and Assistant Professor at Delaware Valley University (DelVal), Dr. William (Bill) Fritz, presented a discussion at the Pennsylvania Livestock Evaluation Center's Sheep and Goat Field Day and Consignment Breeding Stock Sale in Furnace, Pennsylvania. His presentation, "Small Ruminant Quality Assurance, Developing a Plan for Success in the Sheep and Goat Industries," was revered by the Pennsylvania State Veterinarian as "timely and relevant."

Dr. Fritz's presentation was one of several throughout the event, including topics like the importance of veterinary client-patient relationship, selecting for parasite resistance, the Food and Drug Administration's antibiotic rule changes and more. The presentations resulted in many side conversations about animal health and the event concluded with a breeding stock sale for rams, ewes, bucks and does.

The event was held in conjunction with Penn State University's Ag Progress Days, which is the largest outdoor agricultural exposition with over 400 exhibitors from the United States and Canada.

"[The event] was a great way to round out Ag Progress Days and it was neat to see a packed house for the educational sessions. These were timely and relevant subjects and resulted in many side conversations about animal health as prospective buyers looked at sale lots. [The event] wrapped up with a productive sale and many expressing thanks for the time to visit with friends and learn," said Pennsylvania State Veterinarian, Dr. Kevin Brightbill, DVM.
