DelVal Men's Basketball Receives Prestigious Sam Schoenfeld Sportsmanship Award
Doylestown, PA (02/26/2025) — The Delaware Valley University men's basketball team and head coach Muhamadou Kaba have been selected as the recipients of the prestigious Sam Schoenfeld Sportsmanship Award for the 2024-25 season.
Presented by the Philadelphia Area Referees, members of the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association (CBOA), the award recognizes outstanding sportsmanship demonstrated by a program's coaches, players, and fans.
"As a university, we are proud of Coach Kaba and his team for embodying our core values on and off the court," said executive director of athletics Dave Duda. "This award reflects the character of our student-athletes, coaches, and the great supporters of our program."
The CBOA will present the award to Kaba and the Aggies at its annual luncheon banquet on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
"We are honored to receive the Sam Schoenfeld Sportsmanship Award from the CBOA," Kaba said. "This recognition reflects the character, integrity, and respect our team strives to uphold. We appreciate the CBOA for this selection and remain committed to representing DelVal with pride."
Schoenfeld, a former college basketball standout known for his high-energy, impeccable honesty, and charismatic personality, was a founding father of the CBOA. This annual award bearing his name is the highest honor the association bestows upon a collegiate program.
The Aggies finished the 2024-25 regular season 13-12 overall and 8-6 in conference play to earn the second seed heading into the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom playoffs. They host Misericordia University in the MAC semifinals at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26.
