Delaware Valley University's Dean of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is Named on Pennsylvania's Agriculture Power 100 List
Doylestown, PA (08/09/2022) — Dean of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at Delaware Valley University (DelVal), Dr. Broc Sandelin, was named on City and State Pennsylvania's Agriculture Power 100 list. The list highlights public officials, farmers, business executives, association heads, labor leaders, policymakers and others who shape the state's agricultural landscape.
Dr. Sandelin was thrilled to be named on the Power 100 list as agriculture continues to make a crucial impact on Pennsylvanians' everyday lives. "I'm honored to be named on this list among so many influential leaders in the agriculture industry. Together, we're leaving a positive impact on the state of Pennsylvania and its agricultural landscape," said Dr. Sandelin.
"As the dean of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at DelVal, I am confident that the experiential learning we're providing for students will shape the next generation of leaders in agriculture," he added.
Prior to his experience at DelVal, Dr. Sandelin served as a Professor of Animal Science at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona from 2005-2010. He then became chair of the Animal and Veterinary Sciences Department in 2010. Dr. Sandelin has served in additional interim leadership roles while continuing to serve as department chair, including serving as interim director of the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center, and interim chair of the Human Nutrition and Food Science Department.
As a department chair, he was responsible for strategic planning, assisting with fundraising, curriculum development, and assessment. He also led recent facilities upgrades including a remodel of student farm dorm rooms, classrooms, and offices at the livestock-teaching units; a remodel of the swine facility; and upgrades to the sheep and beef units. He was recognized twice with the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award in recognition of his dedicated service to students. To encourage and inspire young people to enter careers in agriculture, Dr. Sandelin has given numerous 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) talks.
As dean of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at DelVal, Dr. Sandelin oversees all academic-related matters for the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, including program development, evaluation, faculty development, strategic planning, fundraising, and budgeting as well as management and oversight of DelVal's expansive agricultural operations.
Dr. Sandelin earned both his M.S. and his Ph.D. in animal science from the University of Arkansas.
