DelVal Named One of the Most Transfer-Friendly Schools in the U.S.

Phi Theta Kappa, a student honor society, recognized DelVal as a great school for transfer students to complete their bachelor's degrees.

Doylestown, PA (03/25/2021) — Delaware Valley University was named to the 2021 Phi Theta Kappa Honor Roll. The list recognizes excellence in supporting successful pathways for community college transfer students. Phi Theta Kappa selected 151 colleges and universities for the honor. Schools selected for the list are considered by Phi Theta Kappa to be among the most transfer-friendly schools in the nation.

"The Transfer Honor Roll reflects the growing importance of recognizing and responding to the needs of transfer students," said Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner. "This award is given to four-year colleges and universities with proven outcomes for transfer success. They are the best at providing a supportive and smooth transition from community college -equating to increased rates of bachelor's degree attainment for transfer students."

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievements of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders.

The Transfer Honor Roll, made possible by a $100,000 grant from The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, recognizes four-year colleges and universities that have developed transfer pathways that lead to success among community college transfer students. PTK considers admission practices, cost of attendance, campus life and recruitment practices when determining transfer-friendly ratings.

"At DelVal, we're proud to provide a variety of options for transfer students to earn their bachelor's degrees," said Kathy Payne, vice president for enrollment management. "We focus on providing options that fit each student's unique needs. DelVal is pleased to be recognized among schools that provide the best transfer experiences in the nation."

Nicholas Eberhardt '21, who transferred to DelVal from Bucks County Community College, is on track to graduate from DelVal debt-free.

"DelVal was very generous with scholarships," said Eberhardt, who plans to become an English teacher. "Starting my teaching career without debt will allow me to focus on influencing the next generation."
