Delaware Valley University (DelVal) Celebrates First Cohort of Speech-Language Pathology Graduates
19 students from 15 different states represented the first cohort of SLP graduates from DelVal
Doylestown, PA (08/26/2024) — Delaware Valley University (DelVal) proudly celebrated its first cohort of Speech-Language Pathologist graduate students to complete the curriculum during the program's inaugural graduation ceremony on Sunday, August 11.
The DelVal speech-language pathology program was launched in 2022 and is delivered entirely online, allowing students from across the country to earn their master of science degree and launch or advance their careers in the industry. The program is a candidate for accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
The cohort included 19 students from 15 different states with various educational backgrounds, experiences and career paths. Some students entered the program directly from undergraduate studies while others had been working in a related field. Many of the program graduates served as speech-language pathology assistants with an aspiration to become licensed as a speech-language pathologist. All of the students entered with a common goal to become a speech-language pathologist and to have a positive impact in their communities by helping their clients reach their full potential.
"This group of students represent our first cohort and we will forever be grateful and proud of their achievements, said Dr. Dargin, founding director of DelVal's Speech-Language Pathology program. "May they go out and conquer the world and make it better for all of us. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in the development and success of our first graduating class."
As the program is completely online, so was the graduation ceremony. Family members and friends of the graduates joined the zoom to celebrate the momentous event. Dr. Dargin presided over the ceremony and every faculty member from the program participated and shared words of congratulation. Attendees and speakers also included University President Dr. Benjamin Rusiloski, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Gloria Oikelome, and Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies Dr. Jospeh Paris. Additionally, the 19 graduates each had the opportunity to share their reflections and experiences in the program.
"Graduating the first class of the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology students represents a momentous milestone for Delaware Valley University," said Dr. Paris. "Our graduates are trailblazers and set the standard for all who will follow in their footsteps. They enter their chosen profession equipped with the expertise to change lives and open new avenues of expression for those they serve. DelVal couldn't be prouder of all they have accomplished."
