Doylestown, PA (02/13/2025) — Delaware Valley University and the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance are pleased to announce an engaging and educational evening with Dr. Doug Tallamy, a distinguished entomologist and New York Times bestselling author. Dr. Tallamy will present "Nature's Best Hope" on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in the Life Sciences Building auditorium at Delaware Valley University.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 7 p.m.
Dr. Tallamy, a professor of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware, is widely recognized for his groundbreaking research in the field. He is the co-founder of Homegrown National Park and the author of several influential books, including his latest New York Times bestseller, Nature's Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation That Starts in Your Yard. His presentation will explore simple yet impactful actions to take to reverse declining biodiversity right here in Bucks County.
The event will bring together homeowners, gardeners, property managers, land stewards and government leaders to hear Dr. Tallamy share how our own decks, yards, and public spaces can help support healthy ecosystems and protect us all. "Indeed, everyone who cares about the air we breathe, water we drink, food we eat and species we share the planet with will want to hear Dr. Tallamy," says Foodshed Alliance co-founder, Robin Hoy, adding that, "healthy insect and bird populations are integral to healthy ecosystems and our own food and health."
"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Tallamy to DelVal for what promises to be an insightful and inspiring discussion," said Jacqueline Ricotta, Chair of the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture and professor of Horticulture at DelVal. "This event will be a fantastic opportunity for our students, faculty and community members to learn practical steps toward fostering biodiversity in their own backyards and beyond."
A pre- and post-presentation reception hosted by the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance will feature light refreshments from Bucks County-grown ingredients and information tables from partnering organizations. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Dr. Tallamy and participate in a book signing.
Tickets for the event are $15 per person and include open seating in the auditorium, which offers excellent views from every seat. To purchase tickets, visit GiveButter.com/NaturesBestHope.
