Delaware Valley University Professor Co-Authors Book Chapter on Fostering Positive Student and Faculty Relationships
Dr. Allison Buskirk-Cohen's chapter appears in the new edition of the "Routledge International Handbook of Student-Centered Learning and Teaching in Higher Education."
Doylestown, PA (12/12/2020) — Delaware Valley University Professor and Psychology Department Chair, Dr. Allison Buskirk-Cohen, recently co-authored a book chapter with her colleague from Meredith College, Dr. Tisha Duncan.
The chapter is part of the new "Routledge International Handbook of Student-Centered Learning and Teaching in Higher Education." It focuses on how faculty can foster relationships in the classroom using both theory and application.
"It is critical for faculty to develop strong relationships with students to foster a sense of independence and self-confidence in the learning process," said Dr. Buskirk-Cohen. "Today's students rely on faculty for guidance and support; establishing a positive foundation encourages them to engage with course material in more meaningful and relevant ways."
Dr. Buskirk-Cohen's research explores how interpersonal relationships influence well-being. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and advanced textbooks and presented at academic conferences around the world.
