Delaware Valley University to Add a New Young Alumni Trustee Position to its Board

The University's Board of Trustees will select a recent graduate to help engage young alumni and provide new ideas.

Doylestown, PA (11/23/2020) — As part of its continuing efforts to help students thrive, Delaware Valley University's Board of Trustees is actively seeking to connect with young alumni and students to gain new insights and fresh perspectives. As part of its outreach efforts, the University's Board has created a Young Alumni Trustee position. This position will be filled annually by a member of DelVal's most recent graduating senior class, who will serve a two-year term on the Board, with the same rights and privileges as any other Trustee.

The University community will nominate young alumni for the position and a committee will review the nominations and recommend one candidate to the Board for election. The first Young Alumni Trustee will be announced at the May 2021 Commencement and will begin serving in the 2021 to 2022 academic year. The idea for the Young Alumni Trustee position was proposed by Board Vice Chair Chip Krauskopf, who is a descendent of the founder of the University.

"Delaware Valley University is a school that is known for its tight-knit community and personal attention," said Krauskopf. "We created this position to give our young alumni a seat at the table. We know our students and alumni have great ideas that can drive positive change on campus. This is one way for us to allow ideas from a greater variety of voices to reach the Board level."

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to connect with our young alumni and current students through this new position," said Majid Alsayegh, Board Chair. "One of Delaware Valley University's core values is 'value the world of ideas and differences.' We feel this position will enhance the diversity of our Board and bring fresh ideas and insights to our meetings. We're looking forward to working with this new Young Alumni Trustee to further strengthen the Board's relationships with our current students and young alumni."
